The passage of the Affordable Care Act marked a significant turning point in the way U.S. companies offer their employees health benefits.
While many compliance deadlines don’t go into effect until Jan. 1, benefits communications, enrollment and administration solutions provider Univers Workplace Solutions created its Healthcare Reform Task Force in early 2012 to provide a comprehensive benefit education curriculum focused on communicating key requirements of the ACA in an easy-to-understand format to all employees and customers.
For internal staff, the company, which is based in Hammonton, New Jersey, has created a training program including elements such as case-specific counselor training through role-play modules, a new webinar series, and recertification on all content, curriculum and systems. For clients, in conjunction with an employer’s open-enrollment session, Univers certified benefit counselors conduct one-on-one health care reform reviews with employees.
As companies continue to move through open-enrollment season, all components of this internal and external workforce management program are up and running, but the task force team meets regularly to enhance the program.
For its initiative to train staff for the upcoming changes under health care reform, Univers Workplace Solutions is the winner of the silver Optimas Award for Managing Change.
