The 2014 Optimas Award Winners

By Staff Report

Nov. 30, 2014

This year’s crop of Optimas Award winners are problem-solvers. With the economic malaise of the past several years ebbing away, our winners have turned to setting up their companies for future success.

As the list of retiring baby boomers grows each day, companies are looking to transfer generational knowledge to younger groups of workers. And advancements in computer technology have made the products and services companies provide more complicated than ever before, but those technological advancements also allow employers to train their employees in innovative ways that keep pace with their high-tech products.

These trends and others, like health care reform, a shifting benefits landscape and the war for talent, create both challenges and opportunities for employers. Our winners have embraced these changes and found ways to incorporate them into their human capital management strategies.

The 2014 Optimas Awards winners are redefining leadership by partnering with their community to improve the lives of those living in it, using technology to develop recruiting processes that address candidate shortages and finding unique ways to make their workplaces safer.

Each winner has tackled important workplace challenges and some, like Amtrak, our General Excellence winner, have found ways to transform the way their organization does business.

We applaud all the Optimas Award winners for their efforts, and we look forward to seeing your entries in next year’s competition. (See competition details at Workforce.com/Optimas.)
