Background-screening company InfoMart acquired Global Information Source, a worldwide background-screening firm based in Atlanta.

Details of the July 12 deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition is in line with continued growth in the market and clientele for Marietta, Georgia-based InfoMart, according to an InfoMart press release on the deal. In 2016, the company launched a biometric identity verification application, ASAP ID — essentially a selfie-recognition tool for clients to easily use the service worldwide from their smartphone.

According to Workforce’s annual Hot List of background check providers published in the July/August 2017 issue, InfoMart screened 1.75 million individuals in the last year and over 8,000 clients use its employment-related screening services.

GIS, an Atlanta-based company with more than 20 years in the background-check field, provides employers with a customized solution for screening candidates and has built a reputation for providing expert-level customer service beyond that of other firms, according to the release.

Infomart made Security magazine’s Security 500 for the eighth straight year and HR Tech Outlook recognized them as a Top 10 Recruitment Software Solution Provider of 2017.

Tammy Cohen, InfoMart’s founder and chief visionary officer, said the acquisition demonstrates the company’s lead in the industry and will help it spread its customer growth and capabilities, according to the release.

“Adding GIS will ensure that we are providing the highest level of customer service as we continue our drive to disrupt the status quo for the seamless screening of candidates,” Cohen said. “We are thrilled that GIS is joining us and shares our passion for the best applicant and customer onboarding experience.”

GIS Principal Officer Tracy Shatus said she is pleased to both bring company offerings to their clients and meet the demands of the customers in the global marketplace.

“By teaming with InfoMart, GIS will continue to provide superior service to our customers by introducing InfoMart’s innovative technology and unique product offerings to our clients,” she said.
