People moving into key executive positions

Paul R. Johnston has been named president and CEO of Exponent. He previously served as the company’s president, COO, vice president and principal engineer. Before joining Exponent, Johnston was a consulting assistant professor in the civil engineering department at Stanford University.

Alex White has been named director of training at Benchmark Hospitality International. He recently served as the company’s director of recruitment. White previously was director of human resources at Benchmark’s Hotel Contessa, director of human resources and property operations at Lajitas Resort and senior recruiter at Harrah’s Rincon Hotel & Casino.

Hewitt Associates recently made these appointments:

Ari Jacobs has been named North American retirement solutions leader. He recently served as head of the retirement benefits advisory group at Citigroup. Jacobs previously worked as a leader in Hewitt’s retirement and financial management practice.
Ken Sperling has been named global health management consulting leader. He recently served as senior vice president of the senior and retiree services division at Cigna HealthCare. Sperling previously was senior vice president of national accounts at Cigna HealthCare and a leader in Hewitt’s U.S. health management practice.

Samuel T. Proctor has been named a vice president and employee benefits consultant at Conner Strong. He recently served as principal, lead client consultant and portfolio manager at Hewitt Associates.

Matt Gilligan has been named president at Disability RMS. He previously held leadership positions in product development and claims management at Unum.

Jeff Pierson has been named a principal in the Washington, D.C., office at Boyden. He recently served as the head of the Small Business Investment Co. at the U.S. Small Business Administration. He previously founded Pierson Capital Advisors.

Taleo Corp. recently made these appointments:

Curt Brasfield has been named group vice president, North American field organization. He recently was senior vice president for the Southeast region at SAP. Brasfield previously worked as group vice president of the East at PeopleSoft and as vice president and general manager at MSA/Dun & Bradstreet.
Christopher Feeley has been named vice president, public sector. He recently served as group director, global services, at iSOFT. Feeley previously worked as group vice president of Oracle Consulting at Oracle/PeopleSoft.

Buck Consultants recently made these appointments:

James Sillery has been named a principal in the compensation practice in Buck’s Chicago office. He recently served as a principal in the human capital practice at Mercer. Sillery previously worked as managing director at Pearl Meyer & Partners.
Nancy Tartaro has been named a principal in the firm’s Secaucus, New Jersey, office. She recently served as a senior vice president at Aon Consulting.

Nancy Vaughan has been named vice president, national account management, at Kaiser Permanente. She recently served as director, national accounts, for the West region at Kaiser. Vaughan previously worked as a health services auditor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in health care research at Harvard University.

Kevin Caruso has been named CEO of Association Services Inc. of Hilton Head. He recently served as a principal at Island Regime Management.

Silvia Rojas has been named multinational client services manager for the employee benefits practice at Wills Group Holdings. She recently served on the international consulting practice in Mercer’s London office.

Jose Rodriguez has been named senior vice president at National Interest Security Co. He recently served as director of the CIA National Clandestine Service.

Pauline Sobelman has been named vice president and benefits consultant for the Northeast at Lockton Cos. She previously worked in senior benefits consulting roles at Corporate Synergies Group and Mercer Health & Benefits.

Nick Osterman has been named senior vice president at ACI Specialty Benefits. He recently served as president at Cigna Behavioral Health of California.

Sue Latina-Cohen has been named vice president of global performance solutions and consulting groups at Cartus Corp. She previously served as the company’s vice president of human resources, with oversight of the company’s Asia HR team, and headed Cartus’ operations in Australia.

Kent Callahan has been named group head of employer solutions and pensions at AEGON. He will continue to serve as CEO and president at Transamerica Retirement Services.

Teri Kleiman has been named vice president and general manager of business development at Hodes iQ. She previously worked as vice president of direct workforce solutions at Agile 1.

Linda Hyman has been named senior vice president of global human resources at Korn/Ferry International. She recently served as head of the firm’s global client strategy team and as a member of the global operating committee. Hyman previously worked as a senior client partner at the firm.
